Incoloy 825 Characteristics
Exceptional resistance to stress-corrosion cracking, ideal for high-stress environments;
Excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, suitable for harsh corrosive conditions;
Strong resistance to both oxidizing and non-oxidizing hot acids, making it suitable for high-temperature acidic environments;
Outstanding mechanical properties at both room and elevated temperatures, up to approximately 550℃;
Approved for use in pressure vessels with wall temperatures up to 450℃.
Corrosion Resistance
Incoloy 825 exhibits broad corrosion resistance, capable of withstanding a variety of acidic and alkaline environments, including sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, and acidic chloride solutions. Its versatility is demonstrated by its use in nuclear fuel element dissolvers, where it handles multiple corrosive media such as sulfuric acid, nitric acid, and sodium hydroxide in the same equipment.
Applications
Incoloy 825 is widely used in applications up to approximately 550℃. Typical applications include:
- Components such as heating coils, tanks, crates, baskets, and chains in sulfuric acid pickling plants;
- Sea-water-cooled heat exchangers, offshore product piping systems, and components in sour gas service;
- Heat exchangers, evaporators, scrubbers, dip pipes, etc. in phosphoric acid production;
- Air-cooled heat exchangers in petroleum refineries;
- Food processing industry;
- Chemical plants;
- Combustion-resistant alloys for high-pressure oxygen applications.
